When the limits of two functions are finite, the limit of their sum, product or quotient is obtained simply by combining the values: these are the determinate forms. In certain cases, however, applying the rules directly produces meaningless expressions — such as or — the indeterminate forms: the limit cannot be computed directly and a strategy is needed.
